Manchester City vs Liverpool Media Reaction

Liverpool completely demolished Manchester City at the Etihad. Here is what the leading media houses had to say.

“I am not Jesus, I cannot walk on water,” Jürgen Klopp had remarked on his first day as Liverpool’s new manager. This, however, was water that tasted uncomfortably like cabernet sauvignon.
Save for an emphatic victory at Stamford Bridge, Klopp’s record had been unremarkable but this opening 45 minutes seemed an astonishing indication of what he might achieve on Merseyside. Manchester City were outplayed and embarrassed on their own ground as they have rarely been in the Abu Dhabi era.
As part of their Junior Cityzens programme, City had flown one of their fans, eight-year-old Gabriel, from Brazil to watch the game. It was generous of them to allow Gabriel to see two countrymen, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, take Manchester City apart. They scored a goal each and but for fine goalkeeping by an over-exposed Joe Hart, they might have scored several……. The independent

Phew. How much of that was down to Klopp's injection of energy for Liverpool - and how much it owes to the international exploits of the City squad over the last fortnight - is unclear, but the visitors were better in every department this evening.
City were out manoeuvred in the early stages, out-thought before half-time and outfought for the rest of it. Sergio Aguero's hamstrings lasted long enough to give the half-time scoreline a barely-respectable look, but it wasn't worth the risk to keep him on and salvage an unlikely point.
For Liverpool, the Brazilian pair of Coutinho and Firmino were as slick as you like in the first half, where the damage was done. Eliaquim Mangala….. The Telegraph

Jurgen Klopp masterminded a rampant Liverpool performance as they thrashed Manchester City 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
The Reds boss sent out his side with a clear message to attack and they raced into a 3-0 lead inside 31 minutes with goals from Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and an Eliaquim Mangala own goal.
A returning Sergio Aguero reduced the deficit before half-time but Liverpool, who missed a host of glorious opportunities, finally made the game safe with 10 minutes remaining thanks to a fantastic Martin Skrtel half-volley…. Sky sports

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool showed they are more than capable of going head-to-head with the big boys by scoring four goals at Manchester City.
The visitors took the lead after Eliaquim Mangala diverted the ball past Joe Hart after a fine cross by Roberto Firmino.
Brazilians Coutinho and Firmino then turned on the style with the duo combining superbly for both goals. Coutinho scored the second before….. The Daily Mail.

Liverpool wrecked Manchester City's hopes of returning to the top of the Premier League and delivered more evidence of vast improvement under new manager Jurgen Klopp with an emphatic victory at The Etihad.
Klopp's side tore City apart with a dazzling first-half performance, which saw them take a 3-0 lead through Eliaquim Mangala's early own goal and cool finishes from Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.
Sergio Aguero gave City faint hope when he pulled a goal back on half time but City were undermined by shambolic defending as they failed to cope with the absence of injured captain Vincent…. bbc sport

Manchester United down memory lane : DOWN MEMORY LANE: MANCHESTER UNITED VS INTER MILAN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER FINALS 1999

Manchester United down memory lane : DOWN MEMORY LANE: MANCHESTER UNITED VS INTER MILAN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER FINALS 1999

ARSENAL 2 EVERTON 1

Arsenal 2 Everton 1

Two things stood out yesterday, Arsenal are serious title Contenders and Chelsea continue to stutter on the brink of total collapse.
Matters are not good for Chelsea as a whole. Mourinho is in trouble and it may not be long before Abramovitch strikes. I  wonder who will replace him considering Ancelotti was fired unceremoniously and he is the only pedigree coach available for now.
Chelsea had even the audacity to question goal line technology
Athough some of the officiating was a bit wanting.

ARSENAL ON A ROLL
The question on everyone lips is which team will stop Arsenal. Everyone expected them to be put on the sword by Bayern Munich on tuesday but they passed that test with flying colours. Yesterday I gave Everton a chance to trouble the gunners but Everton failed miserably. While Ross Barkley scored just before halftime to give the toffees hope arsenal defended well in the second half and could have easily scored more.

KING OF ASSISTS
Mesut Ozil is the main man being this arsenal revival. He has now provided seven assists this season. If he maintains that consistence then I see no reason why arsenal wont be champions next may.  But its with a caution, Arsenal have always flattered to believe so we will have to wait until mid march where boys are separated from men.
For now they are the inform team and are picking up points you expect them to win. They have also performed a bit well against the big boys.
They walloped Man United and had a good game against Chelsea and most of their fans thought they were robbed by the referee.

For Everton things were rosy two weeks ago and even the fans and the media had started to talk about a top four position. From their last two games it shows that they have a long way to go.

CRYSTAL PALACE VS MANCHESTER UNITED

Crystal Palace Vs Manchester United

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United.
Venue Selhurst Park Crystal Palace.
Manchester United injury update: James Wilson, Antonio Valencia, Memphis Depay are unavailable for the trip to crystal palace.
Manchester United form in front of goal has been very erratic, they have scored 15 goals which is less than there current main rivals, Man City and Arsenal. It's been a long time since old Trafford witnessed two goalless draw in a row but its expected because of the way Van Gaal sets out his teams.
Tire the opponent with possession of the ball and then strike. This philosophy is a bit boring for the fans but it has improved Man United defensively.
Against Crystal Palace I expect Man United to control possession and dominate the game.
In Anthony Martial man United have a football gem but Van Gaal is wasting him on the left. Martial has been the spark in the 3 games they have played recently. Wayne Rooney lacks the pace of yester year's and also Van Gaal style does not suit him.
THE GAME.

Wayne Rooney scores a great volley against Crystal Palace last season

Crystal Palace are a good attacking side with good and very fast players. Yannick Bolasie and Wilfred Zaha can be a handful to any player and I expect Man United defence to be kept busy.
The game will be won depending on the mentality and what system van Gaal opts to use. I expect Bastian and Schneiderlin to start in midfield and Darmian as the right fullback due to the absence of Valencia. Herrera should start in the number 10 role and Mata as a right side midfielder.
HEAD TO HEAD.

Did you out of the 30 wins Manchester United has won on three occasion with a score of 5 . goals
